Food For Thought! Green Eggs and Spam! Stop Spamming Me!

OK OK -- I've had enough of the emails and comments on my blog that don't belong!

I guess after over a year, I am going to do my very first official RANT!

Yep..Candace has a rant! I'd like to say that I'm a lover, not a fighter but most that know me know that I am always up for a good debate or like to be the devils advocate, so thus I get the title of the 'fighter'...it's not all bad since it has worked in my favor a few times.

But as I've aged and learned that life is just too short to sweat the small stuff, I'm learning to prioritize my debates and let many go  undefended.

It doesn't seem to help as much as it harms, so I've learned.

BUT!!

BUT...she says...not today!!

I'm so tired of those that (unmentioned and some deleted) feel it necessary to leave a comment on my blog(s) to promote, suggest or simply bring attention to themselves!

I don't need your business, I don't need your website and services plastered all over my comments!

I don't like green eggs and I don't like your SPAM!!

I'm not sure there is a law that covers this, but there is blogsphere etiquette! But just incase you don't know it, keep reading!

Don't leave your business contact information for my readers on my blog, do it on your own comment section!

Don't spam me in my email to let me know you can help me or my buyers or sellers.

Don't call me because you found my phone number randomly while you search the entire Arizona data base on Activerain!

I don't like green eggs and I don't like YOUR SPAM!!! Sam I am!

If you are going to leave comments that are luring my clients in your direction, you can bet your comment won't stay long as you can count on me to delete it anyway!

So if you didn't get the message clear then perhaps you might need a little shout to get my point!

GO AWAY and DON'T think for one minute this is an unattended blog, I write, I share and I come here almost every day...you will be gone, I promise you that!

There I said it! Oh-- and if that isn't enough and you need a more creative way to get my point, perhaps watching the video up at the top will help! Apply this rule with all social networks and Activerain...you are not welcome!

Comments

I have had people call me to advertise their services as well. And I have seen advertisement for their services in the comments section as well.

Green Eggs and Green Spam... Hmmmm. Doesn't sound too appetising. I do agree, I get sooo way too much spam...

What a great post-I guess this is the downfall of success and presence on the web. It's the slimey "eggs" that I like the least!

Great video.  I don't get a lot of email spam from AR (but I am inundated with it from other sources.)  Long ago I took a stand against comment spam on ActiveRain so I don't get much.   The phone calls from vendors make me crazy.

Its the price of fame; but it is a nuance to get unwanted advertising.

Sharon - I think most know not to leave unwanted soliciting in the comments, don't they? I was shocked when I received two in one hour!

Posted by Gilbert Arizona Real Estate - Candace Robinson REALTOR® (HomeSmart ) about 1 year ago

Michael - it goes in phases..but now that I am managing a few more blogs, I see it more and more! But to see it so much from AR is frustrating...I want my numbers and contact out there, but I do get tired of those that don't think twice about leaving a huge list of services..in the comments.. delete...delete...delete...lol

Ellie -- yes that last few here on AR were super slimey!! I don't like SPAM!!

Posted by Gilbert Arizona Real Estate - Candace Robinson REALTOR® (HomeSmart ) about 1 year ago

Maureen - I hear you on the phone solicting!! OMGosh...I have now started to tag them with "Don't Answer" on my cell phone! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh..  I hope this gives me the same results as you with standing my ground.

You forgot the "dont call me rant" I get about 10 solicitation phone calls per week wanting to help me. I DONT NEED HELP until I ask for it!

Posted by Laura Jefferson (Acquire Real Estate) about 1 year ago

Scott - I would imagine so..but not sure I'm the famous one...but I do get my share...I am wondering if I should pay the favor back sometimes..and copy and paste the comment back on their sites and/or blogs!! I know terrible of me to think such things!

Candace, Brilliant and wow I soooooooooooooooo agree. FaceBook is outta control. I do believe we need to take back our profiles. Can we post this on facebook, it should circulate or be linked to everytime someone tries to spam us over there. I see it here too, but not so much.

Laura - That's too funny -- yes those calls are included! I don't need your 'stinkin' help... I will call you if I need your services... LOL.. thanks for the good laugh! I so agree!

Missy - Yes - I have over 175 requests on Facebook-- it took me a half hour to get down 25 of them, one by one! What a joke! I saw two here in one day on AR-- please???  No Spam Zone here... I don't want NO stinkin' Spam I am!

Charles - of course it was NEVER you... (not today anyway, just kidding, LOL) I would tell ya if you are spamming me! LOL

The delete key is my friend :-)   I have a feeling that the delete key would have been Dr. Suess's friend also!

Here, here.

A member left a comment on my post yesterday that had 3 outgoing links to their web sites.

I deleted the comment.  Time was I would send them a note and ask them to remove the links, but I just don't want to spend the time checking back.  It's a misuse of my time to expect me to notice everyone when their comment violates the guidelines.

So, I deleted.  This morning I have mail from someone asking what heppened to their comment.  I don't know if there is a connection, but likely so.

Goodness.  There are only 24 hours in a day and I have 15 agents to feed.  I don't have time to notice folks when they violate the ActiveRain guidelines.  All they have to do is read them.

Keep ranting.

That's what happens when you are exposed on the net...take the good with the bad...and I get so many calls and so much crap..I won't pick up a call from a number out of state...if it's important then they can leave me a message and I'll call you right back.

I have to agree with you. It is rather irritating when you receive an email or a voice mail saying, "I saw your name on ActiveRain. . . ." I guess it does go with the territory when blogging. The letters on my delete key are starting to wear off. Good rant!

Hi Candace, I feel your pain.  I see it almost everyday on my outside blogs...others commenting so they can link their junk sites to my blog.  It gets old!  Thanks for speaking up for some of the rest of us out here!  I know it doesn't help - but you're not the only one it is happening to regularly.  Have a great week!

Posted by Sandy Shores- Melbourne Realtor®, Melbourne Real Estate, M & M Real Estate (Brevard County Real Estate / Melbourne FL Real Estate ) about 1 year ago

Kris - I couldn't agree more!  Oh yes, Dr. Suess no doubt is hitting it too! LOL thanks for your comments.

Lenn- I hear you! I thought about taking the time to send out a response, but I agree..I can find much better ways to use my time. I highly anticipated an email, perhaps it might still come...but it's a simple fix for me. Delete and move on! Thanks for your support, I appreciate it.  Delete..Delete..Delete..

Posted by Gilbert Arizona Real Estate - Candace Robinson REALTOR® (HomeSmart ) about 1 year ago

Neal - Yes..you are right. The good and bad when you expose yourself, you phone numbers and emails...but it seems to go in waves! I saw an AR blog the other day that is building momentum and it's the same exact post 20 times...and they get points each time...it's wild .. I swear they don't read the rules! Thanks for your comments!

Michael S. - I haven't had but one suggest where they found my name...but that does burn a bit when I got that one too! Thanks for your comment!

Sandy - I have a good spam blocker on my outside blogs, but I get one once in awhile. I know it goes with the territory, but the blanant comments left like Lenn mentions above...Come on now folks!! Thanks for your comment!

Can you hear that?

It's the sound of applause for Candace here in the Raleigh area!

Well said my friend.

My respect level and like-o-meter for Candace just rose sharply!

Honey, I am with you!  i had some hag post two comments on two different posts with all of her crap all over it.  I was like....are you kidding me...hate to tell ya sweet heart but if you're looking for people interested in your short sale BS you're probably not going to find that audience on my blog.....sheeesh.

Posted by Shannon Lefevre, PA (John R. Wood REALTORS Inc.) about 1 year ago

Woo hoo !  You rock !!!  It is a shame that other folks would actually do that.  It is amazing that they would take the time to do that... there should be a "blog etiquette" checklist somewhere !

Craig - You are cracking me up!! We need to chat soon!

Shannon - Delete, delete, delete! Boot-o-meter right here baby!

Chris- It happens, I've seen it more lately than other times or in the beginning!  Perhaps a new wave of AR members and they need a edu-umi-cation..
