I get asked from time to time about my sidebar "Quick Links" to the right under my picture. "How do I get one of those, where can I get one?" Well, it's your lucky day, if you want it, it's yours FREE! Follow the instructions below and if you run into trouble, email me!
Instructions: Copy the snippet of code below and then open up a new post in your Activerain editor. Be sure to open the 'HTML' tab and NOT the 'wysiwyg' tab (it will not work there).
Copy and paste the code provded below and then give your post a title and save as a draft, do not publish it.
Now re-open the post in the edit mode and switch over to the 'WYSIWYG' mode now! There is where you can modify the links and title if you wish. Once you have replaced the hyperlinks to where you want you links to go, then save again as draft.
If you are wanting to do more customization with your sidebar link by changing up the colors or size of text, you can search through the code and find the hex code for colors (#000000) and replace those with the color of your choice. See color chart here.

So this goes in the post or the side-bar? Would you do the same thing in the description under setting on the profile page?
Missy - I use mine on the side bar in which you will need to put the snippet of code in the description area on the profile settings page.
>My Home > My Settings > Blog Description >paste in that area
You could use it as well if you cut these links down to perhaps three and put it at the footer of a post! You can see mine on the sidebar however.
OK, that's way too cool!
Thank you very much.
I'm in the process of modifying it and putting it in my sidebar.
Thank you again!
Craig - I emailed you, send your code to me and I will check it out!
Candace, you are always on the most cutting edge of things. I will have to e-mail you for clarification on the actual format and input. Thank you so much for sharing so much with all of us.
Barbara - ohhh you give me too much credit.. I think my brain just is so curious so it tinkers with 'things'...email me anytime, happy to help!
ok, I have put it over on mine. I will use it in the future. How are you?
Lots going on in our crazy world...
Hi Doreen! Did it work for you? Craig was having a problem with it? I'm good, will you be out tomorrow at the Chandler AZREBN meetup?
Candiland rocks !!! Thanks so much for the tip !
Christopher & Stephanie - thanks! I hope you can use it somehow! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you so much, again, for providing us with a freebie. You are very generous to share your things, and I for one appreciate it.
Troy - You are very welcome -- I hope you can use it! Have fun.
CANDACE: Thank you for sharing this useful information. I think I have modified the code above, however, I can not get the background colors to show up. Any suggestions? Thank you Michelle
Michelle - I know that Craig had the same issue, I'm not sure why the colors are not showing up...if you actually click on one view in the actual post if you use it there, it shows and in another view it doesn't (blog roll).. Make sense? We are still tweaking it to figure it out!
I figured it out on the reason the color is not showing!! It happened to me when I discovered the 'header customization' option on our home page!
IF YOU HAVE CUSTOMIZED YOUR HEADER -- THE COLORED SIDEBAR CODE WILL GO AWAY AND CONFLICT.
I DID MINE AND CHECKED OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO OTHER ITEMS AND THE COLOR WAS GONE! SO THERE YOU HAVE IT..IF YOU DON'T REMOVE IT, YOU WON'T SEE THE COLORS!
PROBLEM SOLVED AS FAR AS I CAN SEE! SORRY...
Thank you so much! The info you've provided is great... can't wait to get it on my profile!!
Bob
I'm confused Candace--I saw the comments above but I am not understanding. Forgive me for being dense.
Tami -- I think we worked it out...the reason you might not be seeing the color on your page is because the AR customization header is blocking the code form showing it somehow. Until we can work it out, it won't show..So you have to pick from one or the other!
