Interest Rates are Awesome! 1/2 Full or 1/2 Empty?

copyright CKR 2007This week's economic numbers can be looked at two ways....either our economy is half full or half empty.   New home sales showed a surprising increase in sales for the month of September (could it have anything to do with the builder incentives?) and resale home prices may have stabilized and even improved in some areas.  Tech stocks are doing great with Microsoft, Apple, Google and Intel leading the way.  Airline stocks, after years of being beat up, are showing profits including our homie U.S. Airways.  Las Vegas is at 95% capacity and the resort and entertainment industry is going strong.  More Europeans and Canadians have visited our country this year than ever before.  We are still out shopping, traveling, spending, going to movies, buying electronics, video games, DVD's, eating out, living our lives, looking at houses (some of us even buying). And we live in one of most beautiful and economically sound states in the union.

FYI:  Interest Rates are awesome! And if the Feds drop the Fed rate next week, adjustable rate mortgages, along with the 30 year fixed will give buyers more financing options.

  • 30 Year Fixed          6.250
  • Loan amounts up to $417,000
  • FHA                               6.500
  • Loan amounts up to $263,150
  • VA                            6.500
  • Loan amounts up to $417,000
  • 3 Year ARM            5.875
  • Loan amounts  up to $417,000
  • Jumbo
  • Loan amounts over $417,000

I think a number of factors have helped to increase home sales over the month of September, especially builder incentives. I know of several builders offering between 40k to 100k in upgrades.

George - Thank you for your continued support and postive attitude! No question you are good at what you do and you are blessed by a big guy!! Keep sharing the stories!

Adam - thank you! I will be riding the wave for some time, Thank you again!

Dez - you have me cracking up! I just tried to reach you on the phone, my dogs think I'm crazy, they just looked at me like I was a nut laughing at my computer screen. I think Jason C. considers that a LOL maybe!! Thanks for your humor and lighting up my world (comments). Lets talk soon!

?? Mystery Person ?? - Not sure who you are, yes I agree. There are several factors including upgrade incentives from the builders for sure!! Looking at a glass half full! Thanks for stopping by!

yes interest rates are low...teach me ...if they are so low and we have a surplus of homes for buyers...why are the experts saying we are in trouble ?? why are sales in a nine year low ???experts are saying the home sales are leading us into recession-- end of year we will be in a full blown recession-- is my glass half empty....

Hi Candace,
The cup is 1/2 full and I expect more to be added!  That is the way I look at things, always expecting more and better.

Candace -it's often hard for buyers to keep things in perspective. They need a real advocate to tell them wht the real cituation is and how to interpret the numbers in the way that make sense to them.

Half full all the way - if that makes any sense. The historical average is in the 8-9% range, so these are the good times for sure!

Griff - Well-- I for one am thinking that I will believe this is a great time for buyers! Best ever! I think we need to as Professionals change the perception of the consumers and educate them that buying now is a great time, oppose to later!

Cynthia - I agree with you!

Faina - Yes, I agree! As professionals, it is our responsibility to help them see the glass half full and not buy into the negatives and the media!

Shailesh - Absolutely, BINGO!! Thanks for stopping by.
